HOW/ WHY I STARTED PODCASTING

I started podcasting in the recuperation and rehabilitation period after I was diagnosed with the potentially-fatal and rare autoimmune disorder Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS).Being a former journalist and given that my first love has always been  writing, it was difficult for me not to be able to sit up and type on my laptop/ tablet or craft stories with the written word. That is when I discovered the power and joy of podcasting. I had been paralysed from the neck down and on a ventilator for two months, having been diagnosed with the rare disorder while on a holiday abroad. I had a tube in my throat due to which I did not speak for nearly two months, I walked only after three.

I found my voice again with the help of my podcasts. The first season of it dealt with my struggle with a debilitating disease like GBS. Suddenly I could create again and that too with the help of a simple mobile phone! I had re-discovered the storyteller in me. I would type short scripts on my phone and record them, often lying down. Now I am also back to writing and am learning how to create videos on YouTube. But podcasting will always be that special gift that gave me my voice back!

Onward and Upward!
